Our undergraduate programs in computer sciences — core majors in computer science, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, as well as 60 combined majors — are designed to nurture students’ talents while preparing them for their next steps, whether they choose further education or to start their career in a computer science field.

What’s new

Four ways our undergraduate programs stand out

Our 60 combined majors are carefully constructed degrees that allow students to explore multiple academic fields while staying on track for graduation. Each combined major offers the opportunity for intense study in two disciplines with appropriate breadth in the liberal arts; students take nine to 13 courses in each subject and at least one integrative course that binds the disciplines together.

Northeastern’s renowned cooperative education program — which the university started in 1909 — is ranked #1 nationally according to U.S. News & World Report. Co-ops are available at a wide range of for-profit and nonprofit organizations, big and small. First-year internships provide a way to build your resume before seeking a full-time co-op.

The co-op program gives undergraduates a head start on their career as they integrate classroom skills into solving real-world problems at jobs that, in most cases, relate directly to students’ field of study. Many students go on to find job opportunities with their co-op companies, as well as build a professional network — and an impressive résumé — before they even finish college.

Every day, Khoury College researchers and talented students collaborate to make new discoveries. Whether for course credit or as part of a paid experience, students have the opportunity to offer fresh perspectives and insights, helping drive discoveries and innovation.

Undergraduate research

We encourage our students not just to explore the world, but also to experience it. Khoury undergraduate students work, study, and conduct research on seven continents through global experiences that include:

Dialogue of Civilizations: Our faculty-led summer programs that focus on critical issues facing local and global students. Students spend about a month in-country — in places like Cuba, Peru, Iceland, and Germany — while taking two classes, visiting regional tech companies, and engaging with international experts in CS and other fields.

Study abroad: Spend a semester abroad at one of Northeastern’s partner institutions while taking courses related to your major and that count towards your degree. Learn from local faculty members at a foreign university and immerse yourself in the culture of cities like Athens, Rome, Madrid, Cape Town, Budapest, Hong Kong, and Sydney.

Global co-op: Tap into unparalleled career opportunities with international companies and organizations. You’ll gain professional experience in diverse cultures — from Canada and Germany to Ghana and Japan — while addressing key global challenges within the field of CS.

    In this program, you can start earning your MS in CS during your undergraduate studies by taking up to four graduate-level courses that apply to both your undergraduate and graduate degrees.
