Ildar Akhmetov

Visiting Associate Teaching Professor

Ildar Akhmetov is a visiting associate teaching professor at Khoury College, based in Vancouver. In addition to his significant tenure as a university educator, Akhmetov is an entrepreneur who has founded and managed several businesses, and a software developer who has overseen the development, integration, maintenance, and security of a variety of computer systems.

Juancho Buchanan

Professor of the Practice

Juancho Buchanan is a professor of practice at the Khoury College, and the senior director of software engineering at internal communications company Staffbase Email. He teaches and conducts research on topics related to computer graphics and software engineering.

Dennis Chenard is the director of industry partnerships for student learning at Khoury College’s Vancouver campus. He is passionate about creating mutually beneficial connections, and works to expand the campus’s opportunities for cross-campus, cross-border and cross-disciplinary research engagements.

Yvonne Coady is a visiting professor of computer science at Khoury College. She is also a computer science professor at the University of Victoria and serves as an adjunct professor at the Centre for Digital Media in Vancouver.

Lino Coria Mendoza is a teaching professor and the MS in Artificial Intelligence (MSAI) program director at Khoury College. He is interested in image processing and computer vision and has explored the topics as both an academic researcher and an industry professional for over 15 years.

Richard Hoshino is a teaching professor at Khoury College focusing on discrete structures, algorithms, and AI. He owns the boutique math consulting firm Hoshino Math Services and is the youngest-ever recipient of the prestigious Adrien Pouliot Award for math education.

Assistant Teaching Professor

Aanchan Mohan is an assistant teaching professor at Khoury College, who also holds positions as a lead data scientist at the technology services company Global Relay, and a research faculty member at the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology in New Delhi, India. His research and teaching focus on machine learning, natural language processing, and speech recognition.

Associate Teaching Professor

Ryan Rad is an associate teaching professor at Khoury College with backgrounds in teaching, research, engineering, and management. He has founded two companies in the last decade and is currently active in computational biology, machine learning, and personal health informatics research.

Parsa Rajabi

Part-Time Lecturer

Parsa Rajabi is a part-time teaching faculty member at Khoury College, as well as the director of the Artificial Intelligence for Education Lab and an open education researcher with Simon Fraser University’s learning and instructional services. He is interested in computer science education – particularly the domains of AI education and computational thinking – and on human-computer interaction.
