Biography

Maryam Farahmand-Asil is an assistant teaching professor at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Silicon Valley and Oakland. She is passionate about instilling a deep appreciation for the foundational principles of computer science and mathematics in her students. Her teaching expertise spans core courses like discrete and data structures, algorithms, and programming for data science.

A dedicated researcher in computer science education, Farahmand-Asil was honored with the 2023 Khoury Teaching Innovation Award for her ongoing project aimed at enhancing student engagement in computing courses.

Prior to joining Khoury College in 2022, she held significant academic positions, including Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Mills College and Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley. Her commitment to effective instruction was recognized with the Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award at UC Berkeley in 2016.
