Scott Valcourt is a teaching professor within Khoury College at Northeastern’s Roux Institute in Portland. As a national research leader in cyber infrastructure, Valcourt has been part of the development of more than a dozen worldwide networking technologies.

A campus built for collaboration, in a city built for exploration

The Roux Institute’s mission is to serve Maine and grow its tech economy — partnering with organizations like Jackson Lab and Maine Health, and driving research in computational medicine, human-data interaction, and the Institute for Experiential AI. Year-round startup incubators and dozens of partner companies give students the chance to make an impact locally and beyond.

That collaborative spirit carries into daily life: the Jackson Lab’s on-campus location, open breakout rooms, and mobile-furniture classrooms — with art from Portland-area artists throughout. And just outside the campus, downtown Portland offers renowned restaurants, a vibrant art scene, and easy access to Maine’s numerous natural attractions.
