Biography
Yuxi Wu is a distinguished research fellow in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Boston.
Wu’s research explores the intersection of usable privacy and security, human–computer interaction, and design, all through the lens of critical theory. In practice, that can mean designing systems to empower people to collectively demand accountability or reparations for institutional privacy harms, like online behavioral advertising and data breaches. Wu earned both the Georgia Tech President’s Fellowship and a JP Morgan Chase AI Research Fellowship while pursuing this research as a PhD student at Georgia Tech.
Before beginning her doctoral studies, Wu also researched and taught about computer science, security, and privacy at the University of Chicago, and spent a year conducting mobilization analytics for the Democratic National Committee. She joined Khoury College in 2024, excited by the opportunity to collaborate with other scholars in the school’s interdisciplinary human–computer interaction ecosystem.
In her free time, Wu enjoys hiking, backpacking, running, and photography.
