Biography
Timothy Yim is a PhD student in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Boston. He is advised by Clifton Forlines and Melanie Tory.
Yim's research explores VR/AR perception and its interaction with change blindness, which is when people fail to notice significant alterations in their environment — especially when those changes occur during a momentary distraction like a blink. He first got involved with the topic while trying to research 3D visualizations in VR and is particularly interested in how change blindness occurs across the entire field of view.
Yim joined Khoury College in 2024; before that, he served as an operating systems analyst at Emory University and as the IT manager at GIU International Christian Academy in Ghana.
