Biography

Divya Chaudhary is an assistant teaching professor in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Seattle.

At Khoury College, Chaudhary teaches courses in programming, data structures, cloud computing, and big data. Before joining Khoury College in 2021, she taught undergraduate courses at governmental departments and Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology in Delhi. She also taught computing and programming basics to high school students.

In her research, which she often conducts with her students, Chaudhary leverages machine learning and natural language processing to solve challenges in health care and finance. In health care, her generative AI work strives to detect, diagnose, and treat a range of diseases and conditions, from the dermatological (melanoma) and the neurodegenerative (Alzheimer's) to the mental (depression and bipolar disorder). In finance, she examines the ways that large language models can be used for derivative pricing, risk assessment, and compliance policy validation. Additionally, Chaudhary investigates the potential of generative AI to counteract misinformation and prejudicial content in health care, as well as the potential of hybrid optimization algorithms to enhance load balancing in cloud computing.

Chaudhary is a member of AAAI, IEEE, WIE, and ACM. She serves as an editor for the PLOS One journal, a consulting editor for the Journal of Educational Research, and a reviewer for more than two dozen computing, data science, and engineering journals. Outside of academia, she enjoys spending time with her son.
