Biography
Betül Dinçer is a PhD student in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Boston. She is advised by Stacy Marsella.
Dinçer explores a wide range of areas, including human–computer interaction, immersive technologies, serious games, and interactive art installations. She enjoys blending art with programming to design technologies that engage with cultural heritage, education, and mental and physical well-being.
Dinçer has worked in several university labs, including Koç University’s KARMA AR&VR Lab, USC’s Game Innovation Lab, and USC’s Locomotor Lab. Her work in these labs has been recognized with the Sloan Foundation Games Production Award and published in both the HCI International Conference and Seminars in Oncology Nursing. She also contributed as a student researcher at USC’s Institute for Creative Technologies, where she developed an educational game that introduces K–12 students to fundamental AI concepts.
In 2025, Dinçer joined Khoury College as a PhD student specializing in affective computing. She looks forward to creating new projects that explore how human emotions and behaviors can shape, and be shaped by, technology. She is particularly interested in virtual humans and social interactions.
In her free time, Dinçer enjoys bouldering, hiking, biking, dancing, and techno music.
