The application requirements below are specific to each CCIS PhD program. If you have questions, please contact Graduate Program Administration.

PhD in Computer Science
To apply for admission to the Computer Science PhD program, you must submit an online application that includes:
- PDF or scanned copies of unofficial undergraduate/graduate transcripts (you can submit official transcripts from colleges/universities attended at the time of admission)
- Statement of purpose that should include career goals, and expected outcomes and benefits from the program
- Recent professional resume listing detailed position responsibilities
- Three confidential letters of recommendation
- PDF or scanned copies of unofficial GRE General Test scores (you will need to submit official scores at the time of admission)
- PDF or scanned copies of unofficial TOEFL examination scores from international students only (you will need to submit official scores at the time of admission)
If you are admitted, please send official scores directly from ETS with the appropriate codes.

An admissions committee consisting of computer science faculty members evaluates all applications for admission to the program.
For fall semester admission, your application is due December 15.
There is no spring enrollment.
PhD in Information Assurance
To apply for admission to the Information Assurance PhD program, you must submit an online application that includes:

For fall semester admission, your application is due February 15.

PhD in Personal Health Informatics
To apply for admission to the Personal Health Informatics PhD program, you must submit an online application that includes:
- PDF or scanned copies of unofficial undergraduate/graduate transcripts (you can submit official transcripts from colleges/universities attended at the time of admission)
- Research statement (see below)
- Three confidential letters of recommendation
- PDF or scanned copies of unofficial GRE General Test scores (you will need to submit official scores at the time of admission)
- PDF or scanned copies of unofficial TOEFL examination scores from international students only (you will need to submit official scores at the time of admission)
A research statement should describe your background, experience, and interest in graduate school and research. It should also include:
- Why you wish to pursue a degree in Personal Health Informatics versus another field
- Your technical experience, strengths, and areas that will need improvement
- Your previous work in health and wellness and how you anticipate that experience impacting your work at Northeastern.
- Evidence of prior research experience

An admissions committee consisting of Personal Health Informatics faculty members evaluates all applications for admission to the program.
For fall semester admission, applications for September are due December 15.
Applications received by this deadline will be reviewed first and are most likely to receive funded offers, but strong applications received after this date will be considered as well.
PhD in Network Science
To apply for admission to the Network Science PhD program, you must submit an online application that includes:
- PDF or scanned copies of unofficial undergraduate/graduate transcripts (you can submit official transcripts from colleges/universities attended at the time of admission)
- Statement of purpose that should include career goals, and expected outcomes and benefits from the program
- Three confidential letters of recommendation
- PDF or scanned copies of unofficial GRE General Test scores (you will need to submit official scores at the time of admission)
- PDF or scanned copies of unofficial TOEFL examination scores from international students only (you will need to submit official scores at the time of admission)
Note: Proof of English proficiency (minimum TOEFL score of 100 or a degree from an institution where English is the medium of instruction) is necessary for this program. Please send your TOEFL and GRE scores to the College of Science (institution code 3682).
An admissions committee consisting of Network Science faculty members evaluates all applications for admission to the program.
For fall semester admission, your priority deadline is February 1.
Applications received after that date may be considered, depending on space availability.
