Biography

Aviral Goel is a doctoral student in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, advised by Jan Vitek. Aviral is interested in all aspects related to the design and implementation of programming languages. He is working on improving R, a language used in data science applications.

Before joining Northeastern, Aviral earned his undergraduate degree in electronics and communication engineering from the University of Delhi in India. Within his work, Aviral would like to make dynamic programming languages faster. He has conducted empirical studies to understand how users employ certain features of a programming language, information he intends to use to design compiler optimizations. He is also working on the design of a type system to enhance user experience and make the language faster. Going forward, Aviral would like to continue in academic research.
