What are the specifics of your educational/career background?
I worked in Northeastern University’s Office of Marketing and Communications, where my main responsibility was building and maintaining high-visibility university websites including the Northeastern homepage and the Empower campaign website. Prior to working at Northeastern, I was the web/computer support assistant in the MIT News Office. I updated web.mit.edu/news and provided IT support to other staff members in the office.
I was a web producer at the New Haven Register in New Haven, Conn. My educational background is in journalism and information science.
What are the key aspects of your role at Northeastern? What do you enjoy most about what you do?
In my current position, I focus on improving the web presence of CCIS. I add features to the site and train with content editors around the college. The most enjoyable part of my job involves working with other members of our team to use technology to solve problems.
What’s the most compelling thing to you about the work that goes on at CCIS?
The research that interests me the most relates to developing products to track personal health. Furthermore, I am interested in research on how social networks can inform us about elections and the spread of epidemics.
Where did you grow up or spend your most defining years?
I grew up in Bethel, Connecticut.
What led you to work in your field and/or study at your college?
I received my bachelor’s degree in newspaper journalism from Syracuse University and earned a Master of Science in Information Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
