Biography

Farideh Khalili is a PhD student in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Boston. She is advised by Frank Tip.

A member of the Programming Research Lab, Khalili is interested in automating complex software engineering tasks and has expanded her studies over time to include a significant program analysis component. She is particularly interested in combining program analysis, software testing, and AI to build systems that can take on multi-step and end-to-end software engineering workflows, all while preserving software correctness and reliability. As LLMs have become more capable of software engineering tasks, Khalili began investigating their use for automated test generation, sparking an interest in agentic software engineering.

Before joining Khoury College in 2023, Khalili worked on GUI test reuse and migration across Android applications. She received the ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Paper Award for her paper “Remediating Superfluous Re-Rendering in React Applications” and has published work in ISSTA and EMSE.
