What are the specifics of your educational/career background?
I received a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and French with a concentration in Diplomacy from Susquehanna University and my Masters of Education in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University. Prior to my role as an Academic Advisor in the College of Computer and Information Science, I worked as an Advisor at the University of Massachusetts Boston and the Boston Architectural College. I also served as an AmeriCorps VISTA at Campus Compact for New Hampshire for two years.
What are the key aspects of your role at Northeastern? What do you enjoy most/find most interesting about what you do?
My role as an Academic Advisor for Persistence and Retention focuses on aiding students in their academic success while attending Northeastern University. This includes assisting students in planning their coursework as well as helping them achieve their educational goals and teaching sections of CS1200 which allows students to become better acquainted with their major and the University. My role can also involve working with students in academic difficulty.
What’s the most compelling thing to you about the research/work that goes on at the College?
One of the most compelling thing to me about working with students in the STEM field is seeing the amazing advances in technology that they are part of. As someone with a non-STEM background, I find the work students do to be fascinating. As a professional, I find that seeing my students become successful in their own research and careers is the most rewarding part of my job.
