I grew up in Nigeria and got my undergraduate degree at Northeastern University (DOUBLE HUSKY!) where I majored in chemical engineering with a Chinese minor. After my three co-ops in various biotech and pharmaceutical industries, I concluded that I did not want to work as a chemical engineer, and I started to investigate ways to transition out of that.
I decided the Align program would be the best option for me, especially already being a Northeastern student and having that solidified confidence in Northeastern’s educational standards as well as the co-op program.
I did not have any prior coding experience whatsoever, but I knew that Northeastern would help me prepare adequately to be a viable candidate for any tech jobs.
I am really enjoying the bridge program. Since I did not have any coding experience, I was initially very nervous but the professors, the Tas, the advisors, and even my classmates are basically hell-bent on making sure you succeed. They are all very helpful and although learning is remote, I don’t feel like I’m at a disadvantage at all.

I know that once I complete this degree the world will be my oyster. I am hoping to bridge the technological gap in my home country, Nigeria. Maybe start a company that provides a technological advantage to Nigerian girls.
I am passionate about empowering women and what better way to do that than to teach them to code from a young age so that they have a technological edge in life.
