Morehouse College
I went to Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, and majored in accounting, but I didn’t like it very much. Upon graduation, I found myself more curious about technology and the software that helped me do my accounting jobs rather than the actual accounting job.
I thought computer science would be a great fit, but I didn’t want to go to school for another four years! I was looking for a transitional program and couldn’t believe it when I found Align.
Align is geared to help me learn the skills and knowledge to succeed. Although I don’t have a background in computer science, courses like Fundamentals of Computer Science and Discrete Structures are bringing me up to speed to take the master’s-level courses with students who have CS backgrounds.
My favorite faculty member is Dr. Theo Skoteiniotis. He teaches us that being a software engineer is not about being a coder—it’s about being a problem solver, recognizing what the problems are, and developing solutions in technology and code. That’s been a valuable lesson for me.
