Financial Support for Master’s Students
Northeastern University and Khoury College of Computer Sciences offer several financial aid and scholarship opportunities to help finance your master’s education. Eligible students may also be considered for need-based financial aid. Students will be able to offset tuition through a combination of working full-time in co-op placements, serving as teaching assistants and tutors for the college, taking advantage of Federal Student Aid, and (if chosen) receiving a scholarship from Khoury College’s many philanthropic and corporate partners. Students who are admitted to a master’s program are automatically considered for internally funded scholarships, however, students must apply to be considered for externally funded scholarships offered within or outside of the college to see if they qualify.
Align Scholars Program – requires application
Students admitted to an Align program at Khoury College must submit a separate application to be considered for our Align Scholars program. Admitted students will receive a link to the scholarship application and additional information in their welcome letter sent by Khoury Graduate Admissions. The deadline for priority consideration for the Align Scholars program for fall semester is August 15 and for spring semester is December 15. Align Scholars are selected on a semester-by-semester basis; students who defer their start date will lose their scholarship and need to reapply to be considered again. Available scholarships vary and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

- Domestic student (U.S. citizen or permanent resident)
- Students who identify as underrepresented in technology and those with high financial need (verified by FAFSA) will be prioritized.
- Must maintain a 3.0 GPA and remain in good academic standing while in the Align program
University-Supported Fellowships & Scholarships
Double Husky Scholarship
The Double Husky Scholarship helps Northeastern alumni finance their graduate education by providing a tuition discount up to 25 percent on eligible programs.
Yellow Ribbon Scholarship
Sponsored by the federal government, Yellow Ribbon Scholarships cover most or all tuition and other fees for veterans.
Parent and Family Scholarship
This scholarship provides tuition discounts up to 25 percent for parents and siblings of full-time Northeastern undergraduate day students.
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Graduate Fellowship Program
Northeastern’s John D. O’Bryant African American Institute provides six graduate scholarships each year, covering full tuition and fees.
National GEM Fellowship Program
The National GEM Consortium’s fellowship program is designed to increase the participation of underrepresented groups in science and engineering fields.
Scholarship Opportunities for Cybersecurity Students
Northeastern University is designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Education (Cyber Defense and Research) and in Cyber Operations by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. As a result, there are multiple scholarship opportunities for students in the cybersecurity master’s program.

Federal Cyber Service Grant
Northeastern University has received a Federal Cyber Service grant from the National Science Foundation to educate graduate and undergraduate students in information assurance and cybersecurity. Participation in the scholarship program is limited to two years for master’s students.
You may receive:
- Annual academic stipend of $34,000.
- Full tuition scholarship while in school.
- Coverage of health fee, up to $2,000 per year, and all required activity fees.
- Two years of employment with a federal agency.
- Travel funds to attend information assurance conferences and activities.
- Opportunities to mentor undergraduates participating in the program.
