Biography
Kevin Dill is a part-time lecturer at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. He currently teaches Game Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Northeastern University.
Dill is a leading expert on game AI and a thought leader in areas such as modular AI, utility-based AI, and spatial reasoning. His game credits include Master of Orion 3, Kohan 2: Kings of War, Axis & Allies, Zoo Tycoon 2, Iron Man and Red Dead Redemption. After Red Dead Redemption, he spent 10 years working in research and development at Lockheed Martin, where he focused on applying game AI to military training, before returning to games. Dill currently works at Kythera AI, developing new AI tools and helping developers put them to use. He has taught courses on game programming and game AI at Boston University and Harvard University.
Dill is a prolific author and speaker. He was a section editor for the Game AI Pro series and the technical editor for Behavioral Mathematics for Game AI and Introduction to Game AI. In addition to publications, Dill has given several talks on game AI, many of which were at the Game Developer’s Conference, including “Faerie Dust and Sparkles: Bringing Your AI Characters to Life” and “Nuts and Bolts: Modular AI from the Ground Up.”
