About Me

  • Hometown: Mashhad
  • Field of Research: Personal Health Informatics

What are the specific areas of your graduate education?

Monitoring, coaching and persuading independent living adults using IT-mediated solutions.

What are your research interests?

I have a great interest in designing and evaluating applications and solutions for the well-being and personal health of senior citizens. In this research area, I am constantly looking for design solutions that help independently living older adults to perform physical exercises from home. I am also exploring persuasive technologies that are effective in motivating the older adults to exercise more and stay connected with the community of coaches and friends.

What’s one problem you’d like to solve with your research / work?

I am looking for solutions that enable medical experts and health coaches to monitor people at home and ultimately coach people to practice a better lifestyle (to be physically and socially more active)

What aspect of what you do is most interesting?

I find data fusion, aggregation and the correlation of different biological data for inferring patient health status Interesting. I am also fascinated by the synergy that exist between social, mental and physical activity in adults.

What are your research or career goals, going forward?

I am currently working on solutions that enable coaches to monitor and analyze human behavior at home. My ultimate goal is to unify a platform that gathers many different types of data about adults and thus automatically coaches them in near real time.

Where did you grow up or spend your most defining years?

I was born and raised in Mashhad, Iran and lived many years of my adulthood in the Northern Cyprus and Italy.

Where did you study for your undergraduate degree?

I decided to pursue my education in Information technology as it was and it is an emerging field. I was interested in how technology will touch all aspects of our life in the future.
