

Ari Waldman


Ari Waldman is a professor of law and computer science at Northeastern University, holding a joint appointment with the School of Law and Khoury College of Computer Sciences. He is the faculty director for the Center for Law, Innovation, and Creativity at Northeastern.
Waldman has served as a visiting professor of law at Hebrew University, Brooklyn Law School, Fordham University School of Law, and Princeton University. During his time at American University he served as a professor of legal writing and rhetoric. At New York Law School, Waldman was a John Marshall Harlan II Professor of Law, as well as a professor of law and associate professor of law.
Outside of the classroom, he founded Legally Queer, which is an educational, activist, and advocacy project about LGBTQ legal history and the importance of a progressive judiciary. In 2020, he was cited in Prospect UK Magazine’s “Top 50 Thinkers of 2020.” In 2019, Waldman was elected to the American Law Institute, an organization that produces scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and otherwise improve the law. In 2018, He was awarded the “Best LGBT+ Lawyers Under 40,” which is awarded to outstanding queer lawyers by the National LGBT Bar Association annually.
