DESCRIPTION:Register now\n\n\n\n\nWhat does it take to produce the data on which American democracy depends? Drawing on her ethnography of the 2020 US Census\, danah boyd reveals how civil servants navigated a pandemic\, political pressure\, incomplete participation\, fabricated responses\, and competing demands for access and confidentiality. Data Are Made\, Not Found shows that census data do not simply reflect the nation — they are painstakingly constructed within an increasingly precarious administrative state.
