SUMMARY:Securing Tomorrow: Cybersecurity Q&A (virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Register now\n\n\n\n\nInterested in cybersecurity? Attend a virtual drop-in session and meet current student Narmina Karimova\, MSCY ’27\, to hear the inside scoop on what it’s like to be a graduate student pursuing cybersecurity in Boston. This informal event is the perfect opportunity to get the real deal on the day to day life of a grad student — and take a deep dive into the coursework that you’ll be a part of. Whether you have a background in tech or not\, we have a pathway for you. \n\n\n\nBring your questions; we have answers! Register today to receive your link to join. \n\n\n\nQuestions? Email Khoury-prospect@northeastern.edu \n\n\n\nNarmina’s background \n\n\n\nMy journey began in my home country of Azerbaijan\, where I earned my undergraduate degree in Information Technology. I’ve always been drawn to understanding how technology works\, but over time my focus shifted toward how to defend it. During my studies\, I realized that cybersecurity isn’t just about systems — it’s about protecting people\, data\, and trust. \n\n\n\nTo gain hands-on skills\, I completed a Linux Administration course and soon joined a local bank as a junior cybersecurity analyst. Working in the financial sector taught me how real-world systems are defended every day and how much impact even small actions can have on security. Later\, I had the opportunity to contribute to COP29\, where I supported IT infrastructure and cybersecurity operations during an international event — an experience that strengthened my ability to work in fast-paced\, high-stakes environments. \n\n\n\nNow as a cybersecurity master’s student\, I’m building on that foundation through practical\, lab-based courses and a collaborative learning environment that constantly challenges me to grow. \n\n\n\nNarmina’s professional goals \n\n\n\nMy next goal is to secure a co-op that allows me to apply what I’ve learned to real-world cybersecurity operations and continue building my technical expertise. I’m especially interested in exploring areas like network defense\, incident response\, and risk management. In the long term\, I aim to become a cybersecurity professional who helps organizations stay resilient and builds systems people can trust. \n\n\n\n\nRegister now

SUMMARY:Break Into Tech: Arlington
DESCRIPTION:Register now\n\n\n\n\nYour future in tech starts here — join us for an upcoming event\n\n\n\nBreak Into Tech: No experience required\n\n\n\nYou don’t need a background in tech to have a future in it. All you need is curiosity — and opportunity. Join other curious students and professionals with no tech background to learn about flexible pathways to a master’s degree in artificial intelligence\, computer science\, and cybersecurity\, online and in person. \n\n\n\nThis informative in-person session (see location below) includes interactive activities that introduce computing concepts. Take this opportunity to connect with the Khoury community\, and see how your unique background can help you thrive in tech.   \n\n\n\nFind your pathway into tech\n\n\n\nAttend a Break Into Tech event to: \n\n\n\n\nGet insights into today’s challenges in artificial intelligence\, computer science\, and cybersecurity — and how you might solve them.\n\n\n\nDiscover how the Align master’s programs create flexible pathways to tech careers for learners from all disciplines.\n\n\n\nExplore next steps to build the skills and confidence you need to succeed in this fast-changing field.\n\n\n\n\nPlease note: Participants must hold a bachelor’s degree or be nearing college graduation to participate. \n\n\n\nBreak Into Tech is for everyone\n\n\n\n\n150+ different disciplines\n\n\n\nStudents of Align master’s programs come from all backgrounds\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Align Master of Science\n\n\n\nAlign is a 2.5-year program in artificial intelligence\, computer science\, or cybersecurity that provides a flexible pathway to a master’s degree for motivated students and professionals holding a bachelor’s in any discipline. \n\n\n\nYour experience matters — help shape the future of tech\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAfter my undergraduate studies\, I worked as a corporate finance analyst in a two-year rotational program at a bulge bracket investment bank. I gained business management and financial analysis skills. I did not enjoy working with the legacy database systems at this bank. This frustration was one of my introductions to tech. … I am getting a graduate degree in computer science to understand the technicalities of building software applications and become a well-rounded product manager. Luckily\, I found the Align CS program to help with the transition\, especially since I had little programming experience. … I see an entrepreneurial future in merging my love for music\, sports\, and personal finance with some tech solutions. I look forward to growing as a computer scientist and working on cool projects \n—Princewill\, Align MSCS ’25 BS Economics\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nQuestions?
