February 8 9:00 am - 1:00 pm EST
Date: Saturday, February 8, 2020
Time: 9:00am – 1:00pm
Location: Northeastern University, 440 Huntington Avenue, Boston MA 02115, West Village H – Room 210
Join us for this fun, hands-on computer science workshop with a selfie theme! We’ll start with a hands-on “computer science unplugged” activity, and we’ll learn how some of our favorite apps like SnapChat and Instagram put those filters on all our pics. This is a practical workshop, too, so we’ll write code to build image filters of our own — the more creative, the better!
Girls* ages 10 – 16 are invited to join us for this beginner-friendly, free coding workshop in Boston. *We are welcoming and respectful of trans girl, non-binary individuals, and any others who identify as a girl in a way that is significant to them.
About Women’s Community of Code
Women’s Community of Code is a collaboration between Dr. Laney Strange and Dr. Ben Hescott of Northeastern University. Laney and Ben are computer science professors strongly committed to making computer science accessible to everyone. We’re excited to bring coding to more women and girls in the Boston area!
At these workshops, Laney conducts a fun and interactive learning experience that includes an introduction to computer programming, hands-on coding assignments, and usually a pretty awesome project you can keep working on forever, as computer scientists tend to do.
Our workshops are beginner friendly and free to participate. We heartily welcome questions, comments, and feedback: reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org, (415) 559-2759 with any of the above.
