October 30, 2018 10:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT

The Women Writers Project has been building a web-based teaching toolkit for using algorithmic analysis with word2vec to explore the Women Writers Online corpus.

This workshop will be led by two members of the Women Writers Vector Toolkit team: Molly Nebiolo, a PhD student in the Northeastern History Department, and Cara Messina, the NULab Coordinator and a PhD student in the English Department. The session will cover the basics of the word vectors project and website, what word vector modeling is, and how it can be used for academic research.

No previous experience is required but participants are asked to bring a laptop or tablet if possible.

Co-sponsored with the Women Writers Project.

This event is free and open to the public, but if you are not a member of the Northeastern community, please email Sarah Connell (sa.connell[at]northeastern[dot]edu) to RSVP.
