NU AI Safety

Educating and preparing students to navigate, research, and mitigate AI risks

One of the most important challenges of our time will be confronting the risks posed by advanced artificial intelligence. Built with this philosophy in mind, NU AI Safety is dedicated to educating and preparing undergraduate and graduate students to navigate, research, and mitigate AI risks.

We will build a multidisciplinary community at Northeastern that bridges theoretical computer science with ethical, technical, and governance solutions for AI safety. Through rigorous technical fellowships, reading groups, research and applied project collaborations, and career networking, both within Northeastern and across our cross-institutional network with Harvard, MIT, BU, and Tufts, we empower students to contribute meaningfully to alignment research, policy development, and the safe, equitable advancement of AI.
